Copying metadata from previous target language version?

Hi

I have a requirement to copy a metadata on the language level from the previous version of target language when translation is pushed. For example, version 10 of the object is now pushed to Japanese. I need to populate the metadata field of V10 JA from V9 JA.

Settings > XML Translation Settings contains a section named <copyfromsource> that allows us to configure the metadata to copy from the source. Is there an equivalent like <copyfromtarget>?

is introduced in 2016/12.0.0 and described on KC2016SP3 - Admin.XMLTranslationConfiguration.xml . It existed in previous versions as well, but was configured differently. The idea is to copy metadata from the source language card. We don't have a , which technically makes a bit more complex as previous version target language cards could be missing (v1), or deliberately skipped (chosen not to translate), etc An idea is to configure some fixed 'Init' value on the to be created target language card through KC2016SP3 - Admin.XMLTranslationConfiguration.xml . Then a post processing could query for those 'Init' values and have the business code to decide which previous version metadata should be copied in place. What we did also introduce in 2016/12.0.0 is that the IWriteMetadata* plugins can be triggered on target language card creation. See "Execution during translation creation" in KC2016SP3 - Programmer's Interface Changes . A custom plugin could hold the business code for synchronous execution, or if it is very processing consuming, move it into a new BackgroundTask entry.
