Add ability to see details for deleted (canceled) projects

In WorldServer, if a project was canceled, we could still open and see details of the project and any information logged as to why it was canceled. In TE, once a project is deleted, it is like it never existed, except if you run a report to see deleted projects. You cannot open the project to see any details. Since canceling a project does not exist in TE, our assumption would be that delete would work the same way.

  • We should have an option to cancel or terminate a project, rather than just deleting it. This would put the project in a "terminated" or "canceled" state, rather than completely deleting it. This is a reasonable expectation, as there may be situations where a project needs to be stopped or paused, but the work or data associated with it should not be completely erased. We propose implementing a 'Cancel/Terminate' option for projects, allowing them to remain active but in a cancelled/Terminate state

  • Voting for this feature. If all the tasks show 'cancelled', but project shows 'Completed', it is tricky for reporting and tracking.

  • Essentially, this boils down to us adding a "Cancelled" project status, which does not exist yet. Then we have Cancelled vs. Deleted.

As mentioned here, the complexity comes from the reporting angle, some cancelled projects you may want in reporting, some you may not, depending on the reason for the cancellation. So we probably have to make it configurable.

  • This would be also important for us as sometimes clients are deleting projects and we do not have any chance to find them in TE.

  • To add some clarification on this idea, I think we need both a cancel button and a delete button. There are some projects that we need to fully delete as they are not needed and no work was performed. If a project has work performed, we want to cancel it so any costs are still reflected in the reporting. If we only add the ability to see details of deleted projects, we still run into the issue with reporting being inaccurate as not all deleted projects should be in the report.

With both deleted and canceled projects, we want to be able to see the details of the projects.
