In Progress

This will at least partially be delivered with Studio 2024 CU1, tentatively scheduled for beginning to mid Q4 2024. Initially this will be the normal Trados Studio license (Professional or Freelance as required). It will be possible to purchase such licenses as part of a Trados cloud subscription (such as Trados Enterprise), and Studio users will then be able to activate their local Studio version by logging into the Trados Enterprise account and retrieving their license this way. So that cloud account will work as a cloud license server in a way in such scenarios. It will also continue to be possible to "bring your own license" where a Studio user can bring their own subscription or perpetual license and still be able to log into the cloud account. In that case, no license will be consumed from the cloud account.

Create lite version of Trados Studio that can borrow a license from Trados Enterprise

It would be helpful if there was a version of Trados Studio that could borrow a license from Trados Enterprise while a linguist works on a project locally. This would help with issues in the Online Editor due to project size and also network limitations in certain locations. We have a large number of concurrent licenses for Trados Enterprise, so it would be nice to enable our linguists to better work with our translation projects. Other tools, such as Phrase, include a desktop application that can work in that is connected directly to the Phrase cloud TMS.
