Design an automated workflow step that unlocks all segments as a prep step before TQA

Background: TQA (translation quality assessment) feature is not working on locked segments. It only works on unlocked segments. However, locked segments also need to be assessed for translation quality during TQA.

Idea: As suggested by your engineering team in a support ticket with RWS support, a new idea is being raised for creating an automated workflow step that would unlock all segments and can be added to a workflow before TQA. Currently, segment unlocking has to be done manually, which is very time-consuming. Please develop and add this new workflow step.

  • We are performing TQA sampling and not TQA in all workflows. We want to evaluate the complete quality of what is being produced and not just what was unlocked at a moment in time. Since TE is not built to support TQA sampling, we have to manually export the final sdlxliff files and add them to a new project. The sdlxliff has locked segments due to how it was processed in a specific project.

If TE supported TQA in a way that enabled sampling and not and all or nothing approach, that would be extremely helpful as well.

  • If the segment is locked, that means translator made no changes - why would you want to do TQA on it. If such segment was locked as it was CM/100% match from the TM - there you should consider changing the setting to make sure it's not locked.
