Display target wordcount

Please add an option to display the wordcount of the target in either the Online Editor or the Details view of a task. Currently, the bar at the bottom of the Online Editor can display only the character in the target segment and the source wordcount. The Details view displays only the source wordcount.

Screenshot of the Online Editor showing 137 characters in the target segment, 2371 words, 129 segments, and 9 untranslated segments.

Screenshot of the Details view displaying task info, including task name as Translation, task type as Translation, due date as Today, 19:54, and word count as 2371.

  • Hi Filippo,

Thank you for taking the time to raise this idea. Could you elaborate a bit as to why target wordcount is helpful and what it would be used for?

    Thanks,

    Luis

  • Hi Luis!

For each document, our department has a translation pass and a linguistic review pass. We track the target wordcount to accurately calculate the words reviewed by the linguist that looks at the text delivered by the translator.

Right now, we can retrieve the target wordcount from the previews of Word or Excel files, but it would be much faster to have that information readily available in Trados Enterprise. More critically, we have no easy way to calculate the target wordcount for xliff files, for which it is not possible to generate a preview.

Thank you for looking into this and let me know if you have any other questions!
