extend automatic logout from Customer Portal to more than ten minutes

A lot of our clients keep asking me if we can extend the automatic logout from the customer portal from ten minutes to a longer period of time.

  • Hi Iris,

    Many thanks for your suggestion.

The session timeout we have in Customer Portal was implemented with security in mind as this is an important consideration for some customers. Extending the session timeout generically is therefore not really an option as that is likely to impact negatively on other customers. What we may be able to consider as a future enhancement to make the session timeout configurable, so customers have the flexibility to set this according to their preference. In the meantime, I have marked the idea as "Under Community Review", but I will let you know should we proceed with implementation of this feature in the future.

    Cheers,

    Ian

  • Hi  any further update to this as it doesn't make sense that the main ui and CP is limited to 10 minutes before logging out while the Online Editor is 30 minutes? Surely the both should be the same amount of time. Also if there could be a dialog warning you that you are going to be logged out and asks if you would like to stay logged in would be usual. Also if you are logged out then surely you should be properly logged out and returned to the log-in screen as currently you can still navigate around parts of the system even if logged out.
