It would also be helpful to show the "Cancelled" status in the projects overview whenever all tasks in a project were cancelled. 

This does help provide more insight without having to open a project.

We have plans here, see below. The idea would be that we show the earlies and latest Tasks that has pending files in a project. The number in the bubble would indicate how many files are where. And red would indicated overdue.
(this is a mockup to visualize, so ignore the fact that all the numbers don't necessarily add up).

I agree. The fewer the clicks, the better. Sometimes TE is slow to load so it is better to be able to see details at a high-level.
