Order form on customer portal: remove "Create Draft" and "Create" buttons

in the Order form on the customer portal, the buttons "Create Draft" and "Create" are confusing as they create a translation task without sending it to the translators. The button Create & Start is the only one we need. To avoid further problems we'd like to remove the buttons "Create Draft" and "Create" from our order form. Is it possible?

  • Thanks for your feedback Ian. It would be useful if Trados offered the flexibility to show or hide these buttons. This would solve the problem for those who are faced with users who think they are sending a translation request when it is just stuck at the request creation stage. As Bernhard says, being able to customize the customer portal would be of great help.

  • Thanks Ian, I appreciate your feedback and am aware that his may be a desireable feature for a lot of customers for a lot of use cases. Thing is: the way our processes work, it´s not and obsolete for all users that access the customer portal. Anyone that would like to create a project and populate it later would have a PJM or comparable role and work in the LC UI, not via customer portal. The end users that we have as customer requesters do not want or need this functionality and may only request a translation every couple of months. I have linked a ton of documentation, occasional users will forget about this again, so the QSG unfortunately does not help here. What would help, is being able to customize if you want to have these buttons available in the customer portal or not. We have end users that may create a project without starting it and if this leads to delays, users blame Trados, and it´s "confusing UI" not themselves for using it wrong!

    Thanks for your suggestion.

    The Project Drafts feature, and the ability to create a project without starting it immediately, are popular features among Customer Portal users. This is backed up by the usage statistics we are capturing, and the fact we've been asked by customers in the past to increase the number of drafts we support per user. It isn't currently possible to hide or disable either of these features.

    Both features are described in the Quick Start Guide for Customer Requesters which can be downloaded from the Help menu in Customer Portal. You may also consider making this guide available directly by customizing the Dashboard page for Customer Portal users. Perhaps if the benefits of these features can be made more prominent to users, they may be able to benefit from the functionality provided, and we can avoid some of the confusion being reported currently?

  • I fully agree - customer requester do not usually understand what it means and this could lead to projects that are stuck in limbo.
