Reporting - add support for blending/joining datasets

There are multiple instances where I need to visualize data that is contained in separate datasets. Please add support for blending/joining datasets in the reporting module.

  • Hi Ian,

I am looking to be able to blend (join) datasets on my own side, similar to what I can do in Looker Studio for GA data, so I can get desired fields that don't exist across datasets to be reported in a single visualization. It looks like Quick Sight supports joining, but this does not seem to be exposed for our view in Trados. https://docs.aws.amazon.com/quicksuite/latest/userguide/joining-data.html

One example is with how I am trying to visualize TQA data where there are 2 datasets that both contain different, but seemingly incomplete (for what I am looking to do), TQA dimensions and measures. I will have to see if I can figure out what I was trying to build in September when I opened this idea for another idea.

    Best,

    Russell

  • Hi Russell,

The datasets available via Custom Reporting in Trados are standardized for all customers. Creation, modification and maintenance of these datasets is handled via an administrator module, but this can only be accessed by the team that owns the reporting functionality at RWS - this isn't something we can expose via the Trados UI due to the way our implementation is modelled. Any changes to these datasets would impact on all Trados customers that work with our reporting module.

I would be interested to hear of specific requirements where you want data to be blended across multiple datasets. We can then investigate if there is a holistic solution that can be implemented that would benefit all customers, without the risk of introducing breaking changes to existing reports.

    Cheers,

    Ian
