We delivered a new PDF filter in 2023:  Announcement of change to PDF conversion technology in Trados Enterprise 

Please let us know if this still applies. In general we always still advise to try and get the original source file whenever possible. If not possible, offline technologies such as Abbyy can be used.

New Filters for PDF documents

Hi everyone,

A big part of the documents we put for translation in the tool are PDF’s. However, we have noticed that this type of document is not well read , nor well translated by the tool. Text boxes go missing, the layout comes flawed, bullet points are not align, etc…

Thus, we believe that the creation of new filters for PDF, by the development team in Trados, would help improve the tool in the long run and, of course, would provide better quality documents in PDF format.
