We would like to formally request that you increase or remove the current 2000-character limit per segment in Trados Team.
Our team frequently handles patent-related documents, which often contain extremely long sentences—sometimes exceeding 2000 characters in a single segment.
Due to this limitation, we have encountered several issues, including the following serious case:
When importing over 100 SDLXLIFF files from WorldServer into a Trados Team project, one file was rejected because it contained a segment exceeding the 2000-character limit.
To resolve this, we had to manually split the segment in Trados Studio and reimport the file.
However, since the original file had already been partially imported, we were required to rename the file before reimporting it. While renaming is possible, we then had to revert the filename to its original when returning the translated file to WorldServer.
Although this issue affected only one segment in one file out of more than 100, the workaround process is unnecessarily complex and time-consuming.
Moreover, there may be cases where multiple files and segments exceed the limit in a single project.
In addition, forced segment splitting negatively impacts translation quality and QA processes.
This limitation significantly hinders our workflow and discourages us from using Trados Team.
Therefore, we kindly and urgently request that you remove the 2000-character limit per segment, or at least provide an option to increase it, allowing for longer segments to be handled without issue.
Thank you for your attention and understanding.
