Allow deleting files from projects without deleting the whole project - e.g. for confidentiality reasons

Sometimes we have projects with high confidentiality where we would like to be able to delete any project related files after finalizing the translation.

Besides confidentiality data protection with regards to names or other personal information would also be a reason for us to delete files from existing projects after finalization.

  • Hi Paola, if you cancel the file, it won't show up in your statistics.

  • Hi Ian,

yes, for scenario 1 we would no longer need or want the selected files to be part of the reporting. And they don't have to be visible anymore.

And yes, for scenario 2 we would still need the statistics to be part of the reporting after deleting the files and have information on the files still available. With regards to data protection though, we have to keep in mind, that file names might also contain confidential data. But I guess for a scenario like that, we should talk to the clients to adjust file names accordingly when starting a project.

I think, it's not possible to answer your last question with either yes or no. It could be both. Your suggestion might work for some projects but not for all. I think it would still be good to have the option to delete only selected files from a project.

Feel free to reach out to me for further discussion on this topic. This is quite an important topic for us.

  • Hi, Ian:

Thank you in advance for your interest in this Idea.

Yes, I support Paola's comment. In our case, sometimes we are translating a document, and then, we receive a new update of this file. We can add the new file without problem, but we can't not delete the previous one. In the statistics we have two files instead of one because we can't not delete the previous one.

    Regards,

  • Hi, Ian:

    I appreciate your response.
In my case, it is scenario 1.
For example, I created a project with ten files, however, I realize that I need to replace one of the files. I use the "Add Files" option, but I don't have the option to delete the previous file. Ultimately, my statistics will show ten files, including the extra file, because I didn't have the option to remove the file that was replaced. That's my concern.

Thank you again for being interested in this topic.
