If a translator gets the message "Dependency file not found" and looks for the file to be inserted and accidentally inserts the wrong file, he could check immediately whether he added the correct dependency file by running "Generate target translations", but if the translator gets an error that does not clearly tell about wrongly added dependency files like:
"Failed to save target content: Could not find file 'C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp\SDLTempFileManager\3hvhbu4e.i1g\FILENAME.pptx\ppt\slides\slide10.xml'."
"Failed to save target content: Could not find file 'C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp\SDLTempFileManager\zgspmsmz.1ly\FILENAME.pptx\ppt\slideMasters\slideMaster2.xml'."
it is already too late for fixing the issue, once the translator has added a dependency file, he does not the possibility of fixing a wrongly added dependency file, unless he is knowledgeable enough to edit the SDLXLIFF file in a text editor (<reference><external-file href="file://FILENAME.pptx" uid="inputfile"/></reference>) or he uses the trick of erasing the dependency file from the TEMP folder while having the SDLXLIFF file opened in the SDL Trados Studio editor and then resaving the SDLXLIFF file back to the harddisk.
It would be a good option for the translator to check for wrongly added dependency files immediately with the possibility of fixing this right after the check.
