It should be able to work with Dragon Naturally speaking

  • Hello Gerhard & Hugh - OK, I'm moving this over to the Trados Studio Ideas area now.

  • I do not know if I am on the right place ... I am referring to studio 2017 where ist is no possible to use directly all features of Dragon like in the products of the concurrence.

  • Hi Hugh - Thanks for the explanation and feedback. Seems like this "Idea" request might have been meant for the Trados / MT products vs. Contenta. The Contenta product is a content management application used to streamline the creation, management, publishing and delivery of structured content. Our S1000D applications are targeted for the Aerospace & Defense vertical market since they have adopted a structured content standard called "S1000D." The user here are primarily power authors, publication managers and then we also have the content consumers - those who use the Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) to do their jobs, like maintain heavy equipment. I've not yet had a request from these users for Dragon support so that is why I was asking for clarification.

Hi Gerhard - if you mean this idea for SDL Trados Studio 2017 and/or more specifically the Multi Term dialogue I'll close this Idea here and you can reopen it there. In the meantime, I'll make sure those Program Managers are aware of your input - thanks!

  • By and large, SDL Trados Studio 2017 already works quite well with Dragon NaturallySpeaking. I use a whole range Trados-specific custom commands in Dragon Professional Individual (version 15). For example, when I say "dot haha", it means: "Put a full stop, confirm the segment and move to the next segment." - However, voice input doesn't seem to work with new entries into the MultiTerm dialogue when adding new entries on the fly. - Also, the input can be somewhat sluggish compared with other applications, such as Microsoft Word, for which Dragon NaturallySpeaking has been optimised.

  • Hello Gerhard,

Thanks for contributing the first idea for the Contenta Publishing Suite!

Would you please elaborate a bit more on which application (Contenta, Contenta S1000D and/or LiveContent S1000D) you would like extended to work with this speech recognition application? Can you share which type of users (editorial, publishing/project managers, IETM users) you envision would be using Dragon?
