Idea Delivered Partially

Make it quicker and easier to format in Editor View (reinstate buttons on the ribbon for highlight/remove highlight/undo italic...)

Currently it takes me 4 or more keystrokes to add highlighting or remove highlighting to a selection in the Target column. Removing italics and bold is equally cumbersome and time-consuming. There used to be buttons for removing formatting beside the add ones on the ribbon. Can these please be reinstated?

Ideally, we would be able to customize the ribbon for the functions we need most.

  • To me it looks more than clear:

In Trados, you have to use different keys to apply and unapply formatting (be it bold, italic or whatever else).

In user-friendly applications, you use the same button both to apply and to cancel specific formatting aspects.

Another handy tool that is not present in Trados is highlighting (without adding a comment).

    That's it.

  • Hi Zakiya - Can you ideally create specific ideas for each point, especially those that are not clearly available? Like Paul says, to remove formatting, use the same approach as in MS Word - select the text and then press Ctrl+Space. Ctrl+Alt+Space removes the formatting from the entire segment.

  • Paul, I beg to differ! The biggest button in the Formatting group in the Home Ribbon removes ALL the formatting, not select aspects. This means I have to tediously add them back in. Most importantly, there is no button to add Highlighting.

  • There still is a button for this.  It's the biggest button in the Formatting group in the Home Ribbon.  You can also use Ctrl+Space to remove formatting from the selected text, or Ctrl+Alt+Space to remove formatting from all the segment.
