Idea Delivered Partially

Setting to Delivered Partially as the UI can be customized or keyboard can be used.

Move down the right tabs in the Editor

When you want to close the translation file in the EDITOR or File View by clicking on x on the right side near the tabs such as Useful Tips, Preview etc. the window of the tab near the x button for closing the file opens if you move the mouse too far to the right. I therefore suggest moving these tabs down to the lower right corner so that the user can easily close his translation file without waiting that this window closes again

  • Hi Tjasa,

Yes - it can be a bit annoying to try and hit the x button correctly... There are a few possibilities here:

    • Use the keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+F4 by default) to close files so you don't need to use the mouse
    • Change the window layout as you see fit - for instance, you can hide 'Useful Tips' and 'Notifications' permanently and just keep Preview and Advanced Display Filter. When a notification comes in, the orange bell icon will show it and when you click on it, the Notifications pane will appear again and will be hidden when you click the bell icon again.
    • Move Advanced Display Filter to the other side, where the termbase viewer tab is

In general, the UI of Studio and the tabs are quite flexible and can be moved/hidden etc. and customized to your needs, so while we may not change the default layout (and it's actually not possible to move the tabs to the lower right corner), there are many options for you to customize the overall layout so that the x button no longer conflicts with the tabs. This is documented here - https://docs.rws.com/980998/338273/trados-studio-2022/displaying-and-managing-windows

Against this background, I will set the idea to 'delivered partially' status.
