Idea Delivered Partially

AnyTM, now part of Studio and not an app anymore, does deliver this - setting to Idea Delivered Partially even if a fully integrated solution would be preferable.

One TM used for both language directions

I don't know how difficult it is to implement, but since it has been possible in Deja Vu for many years, as well as in MemoQ, I think it would be good to finally make a TM usable in both language directions. This of course would apply to secondary TMs (big mamas) rather than the main, project TM.

I've always thought it was a limitation within Word-based CATs (wordfast e.g.), but standalone programs should cope with it and not rely on AnyTM solution, which basically involves creation of a new TM.

  • Well, I disagree that AnyTM is a solution here. One thing that it does is create a NEW TM in the opposite language direction. In consequence you are left with two TMs, that occupy more space on your disk.

Then there is the question of updating memories. To update my memory with the data from my project memories, I need to update both the regular big mama and the AnyTM memory. Moreover, as far as I know, AnyTM doesn't work with Uplift feature, does it?

That's why I never use AnyTM, but I have two big mamas, because both can be used with Uplift.

Summing up, it's hardly a "one TM for both language directions" is it?

It can be useful if you have various language variants, I agree.
