Option to remove termbase link in packages

When creating a package in Studio, there is an option to remove the resource links for server-based resources:

Screenshot of Trados Studio's 'Create Project Package' window with 'Additional Options' section. Options to remove links to server-based translation memories are checked.
This is to avoid that the freelance user who opens this package gets an error message that he cannot access the resource.
Unfortunately, this only works for translation memories but not for termbases that are attached to this project.

These termbases will still have the "Active" checkbox checked, with the result that the user gets a login window to the GS server (to which he is not entitled to connect) and also an error message that he cannot connect to this termbase.

Making the option work both for TMs and TBs would save a lot of "clicking away" operations for freelance users.

  • I confirm this is a real pain point. We need to disable all server termbases prior to creating the package, and then enable them back to allow our internal staff to continue working with the TBs.

This is time-consuming and an error-prone process.

Whenever we forget to disable server TBs, external translators worry that something might be wrong with the package. The panic mode even gets some of them to think they do not have access to TMs.

This is a very necessary option!
