Or... just search for any space apart from the non-breaking space:

\w[^\S\u00A0][!;:]

If you create your QA check to look for that in the target, or even the display filter, it'll find every instance where you have spaces before your French punctuation marks that are not non-breaking spaces.

Let's see how many votes you get..  if it sees a lot then this is probably something the product manager team can consider.
