Reference content for the translator inside XML CDATA nodes

Add a way to show some context information for the translators included in the XML files. This content has to be readable for them, but it has to be blocked (not edtiable) and has not to be into account for translation costs (number of words, etc.). The reference text for the translators to see is inside the CDATA of an XML node. An example in the image below:

  • Hi, Paul.

I've never created a stylesheet in Trados, but I think that the effort needed to do it that way will be greater than the proposal I have made. I think this other way is a more direct and simple approach.

I would do that with a new option in the Translate property of the Rules in the Parser section of the file types:

    · Always translatable

    · Not translatable

    · Translatable (but not in protected content)

    · Not specified

    There add a new option:

    · Reference or Context

    Thanks.

  • Why wouldn't you do this with a custom XML preview?  You can do this now with a stylesheet?  If it wasn't this way how would you suggest it was done?
