Showing the synonym when adding a term in Multiterm termbase from Studio

When you add a new term in Multiterm termbase from Studio and if it is a synonym you are prompted with a window "would you like to add to an existing entry".I often hesitate to say yes because I do not know what the entry is (meaning that it can be a synonym in a given context or not).

What would be nice is to have a window saying" This might be a synomym. Would you like to see the entry? ". That would ease a lot the process of adding a new term directly from Studio.

A dialog box titled 'Selected Term Already Exists' with a message asking if the user wants to edit the existing term 'propri t s' in the active termbase, with options 'Yes', 'No', and 'Cancel'.

In this above example, the noun 'propriétés' can mean 'property of houses' or in a different context 'funtionnality'. How do I know if in my termbase propriétés relates to 'houses' or to a product functionality? That is the question...

I hope that I will understand my request as it is not so easy to explain it.

  • Hi - you are probably referring to homonyms, right? Kind of a homonym preview helping you decide if to add a new entry or edit the other one with the homonym? One challenge might be if there's more than one homonym with the same spelling, what to do in that case... maybe that would be an exception but still wondering what to do in that case.
