Target Language abbreviation list

I frequently have to compile a table of abbreviations used in the target language version to compare against the list ot abbreviations supplied in the source text version. Naturally there is not always a one-to-one mapping - and not everything is rendered as an abbreviation in both source and target texts.

E.g. the list in the German version of a publication contains gem., iHv, iVm, iZm all of which relate to abbreviations that are not used in the target (English), whereas there are in turn frequently used abbreviations in the English version that in turn don't appear in the (German) source version.

A feature I'd like to see (maybe there is a plugin that already does this...) would be the ability to highlight an abbreviation in the active segment in SDL Studio and select it to be added to a list of abbreviations to then compile the table with explanations accordingly (either as Excel or Word Table).

Output could be:

Abbreviation Description
ABBAG
AFRAC
BWG
CRR
...
...
ZaDiG

Maybe no-one else finds this useful, but thought I'd suggest it.
