Trados needs to add the ability to translate dwg format files exported by AUTO CAD.

There is a significant demand for translating dwg files exported by AUTO CAD, but Trados cannot directly handle these files yet. It is hoped that it can directly translate dwg format files in bulk, and the exported translations should also be in a dwg format that AUTO CAD can directly use.

  • It's quite regrettable that this issue has been ignored by so many professional translators. In the mechanical, construction, and design industries, there is a substantial need for the translation of AUTO CAD drawings in dwg format. Presently, some Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools are already capable of directly extracting content from AUTO CAD dwg drawings, allowing for direct translation and importation into the drawings.

  • RE: some CAT tools are already capable of directly extracting content from AUTO CAD dwg drawings...

    Could you please name some?

  • Here, only list two Chinese Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools:

YICAT, www.yicat.com, is capable of translating Computer-Aided Design (CAD) dwg files, and it can also directly export bilingual languages for dwg documents.

The alignment feature of this CAT tool is far superior to the current spider-web-like Align Documents feature in Trados that can make translators dizzy.

Besides, JEEMAA, www.jeemaa.com, can translate Computer-Aided Design (CAD) dwg files.

Although these CAT tools are newcomers, many of their features have already surpassed those of Trados.

We sincerely hope that Trados can learn from the rapid development of its peers and bring users richer, more stable, and more user-friendly features.
