Idea Delivered Partially

Setting this to "Idea Delivered Partially" given the YourProductivity app - but might need to continue conversations to refine our understanding

Translation speed in words per hour in the progress bar (like in MateCat)

Hello. This is a very simple feature I've seen in another CAT tool and I found it to be very motivating and generally giving you a better overview of the workload. It also has an estimate of the time needed to complete the task:

Screenshot showing a task progress bar with 'To-do: 710', 'Speed:0.452 Wordsh', and 'Completed in: 0h 04m'.

The speed is of course a rough estimate and depends on how quickly you confirm a segment, so I believe this would be something very simple to implement. So simple in fact that I'm surprised it has not been implemented yet.

  • ...just wondering, has this been given any proper consideration? I would really appreciate that.

  • Trados Portfolio Ideas Developers I would really appreciate proper consideration of this simple idea.

  • Thank you for weighing in. As I have explained in my post and in the comment above, this works in a completely different way than "Your productivity" app and I really find it puzzling that two people have already compared these two.

It does not measure user's productivity with abstract points and by way of an added app, that you actually have to open (which in itself counteracts the idea of productivity...), but actually lets the user keep the tempo up and have a good overview. It is pretty self explanatory, please take a look at the screenshot in the first post.

  • Thank you for your response. I've tried both #Yourproductivity and the Time Tracker and they do not have the same features, I wouldn't call them similar.

This speed tracker is actually a blessing when it comes to productivity, because it lets you maintain your speed while you work and gives you a fairly precise time estimate of how long it will take you to complete the task if you do. Also, no need for additional windows in your editor, just two indicators in the progress bar: word/h and time to complete.

  • We did something similar years ago but hardly anyone was really interested:

    https://appstore.sdl.com/language/app/yourproductivity/491/

It was originally more extensive as it was part of a twitter based competition.  But we removed the twitter part and it only has the productivity parts now.  Not quite as simple as the screenshot you showed, but the level of non-interest in features like this is.
