Update the functionality of "Change Segment Status" menu

When I confirm a segment by changing the segment status to Translated with right clicking "Change Segment Status" menu,
the status symbol is turned to the symbol indicating Confirmed segment.
However, the confirmed segment is NOT added to Translation Memory.
This would not be a good idea, because I understand that changing the segment status to Translated is the same as confirming the segment in the ribbon menu.

My suggestion is to also update Translation Memory when the segment status is changed to Translated with right clicking.

Thanks.

  • I don’t think this is a good idea. This action you describe is ONLY about changing the status with no other action. Sometimes you want to mark all the segments as translated so the file can be 100% complete, but you don’t want the segments to be added to your TM at all.

  • Paul-san,

    Thank you for your comment.

If changing the segment status to Translated is different from confirming the segment in the ribbon menu, I agree with your thoughts.

However, the status after these two actions have been taken consequently looks the same, which means the status symbol is the same and the property just shows "status: Translated". Users would not know which action has been taken. So I was wondering why the Translation Memory is not updated for some segments even though the segment status is "Translated".

If there are clear differences in the functionalities between these two actions, I think the status symbol and the property need to be different depending on the action.
