What about having a simpler, cheaper, default SDL Trados Studio version?

Why not eliminating many very rarely used options:

1)  (a real headache in just making a choice of which color using for background, comments, tags etc.: LemonChiffon, or NavajoWhite, or maybe PapayaWhip???)

2) A very large list of Keyboard Shortcuts is to be printed and ...hung above bed, it would be enough to limit it to the format  as simple as possible.

3)  Editor: e.g. AutoSave could have one default value set.

There are only few suggestions I submit to support my idea.

Best regards

Andrzej Szumski, Poland

  • Do I understand from example 1) that it is actually possible to customise the way Trados looks? I have never been able to find any such setting! In general, I quite agree with Andrzej Szumski's wish to simplify the choice of options, or at least the way they are presented. There seems to be a lot of clicking and searching involved in how the menus are currently put together. On the other hand, if the menus are changed again, this would entail a lot of new searching for translators ...

  • Actually, I do use custom colours and custom shortcuts.

E.g., I sometimes prefer to have a dark background rather than the white aggressive one.

E.g., i reaffected F4 (useless for me) to segment confirmation, instead of the 2-finger default shortcut (CTRL+ENTER).

I inverted the default F3 and CTRL+F3 shortcuts

I deactivated CTRL+Z and CTRL+Y, which do not always work ina reliable manner (e.g., they can unconfirm several previously confirmed segments)

    etc.
