Hi Cyril,

Thank you for submitting an idea for SDL TMS. I've put this under review as I think I need to understand the requirements a little better. Is this for a specific file type? Given what I know about your usage of SDL products, I would guess that this is for the integration with SDL Tridion Sites but I want to be absolutely clear on that. Even then, I think that perhaps this kind of functionality might be better delivered as a customisation unless there is a wider need for this specific use case.

Functionality to have whitelisted terms that are automatically tagged with source language tag

There are certain words that are not translated, such as Company Name, text versions of trademarks or copyrighted names, i.e. brand names or product names.  These terms are usually not translated.  Visually, this is okay, but when a screen reader reads these terms in the context of a page in another language, the screen reader will pronounce these words in the native language of the page.  This becomes an accessibility issue.  To resolve this, a lang=en (or source language) tag should surround the term.  The request is that this lang=”source language” tag be automatically added for a white list of terms.

  • It is not for a specific file type, but content that is translatable from Tridion Sites using the Connector.  There are trademarked words and labels we don't want to translate; however, we also want it to be pronounced in the source language tongue and not the target language.
