Thank you for you idea to help us improve SDL TMS. We already have a feature in the backlog to implement custom package names and I think this would help you. "Not Planned" means that we haven't yet planned a release for that feature. I guess you could also raise an idea against SDL Trados Studio to ensure that it can handle long filenames and paths.

Files downloaded from TMS often have to be renamed before they can be used in SDL Trados Studio because their names are too long. A shorter length restriction on file names in TMS would prevent this. Renaming files often causes problems when it comes to uploaded files after translation. Package names in particular are very lengthy.
