Hi Christin

Your original idea was somehow already in the backlog as an enhancement to apply Access Control Lists to Attributes, a request from Laurent Pierret who commented above. The ID is: WSXI-6515

Thanks

Custom attributes not only as global settings

Custom attributes should not only be available as global settings in WorldServer that cannot be configured to be Project Type/User-specific.

Example:

Different WorldServer TransPort users need to give exactly the same instructions to the translators. These users are grouped together in one Workgroup with different project types. For one project type, they need to give these instructions.

They want to have a custom field that is already filled by default with this information when they select the specific project type. By doing so, I can also guarantee that the instructions are always given in the same quality.

So why is it not possible to create a custom attribute in WorldServer that is only valid for one or two project types or user groups?

  • Hi Christin,

This is only for project types though, I think you can achieve this requirement by creating separate project attributes for each.

For example, you create one project attribute for a customer AAA. In addition to that, you create another project attribute for a customer BBB.

Those are read-only attachment attribute for projects (and with the In TKit option if necessary), and you attach any files as default values.

Once you have created, those will be displayed in a configuration page of a project type (Management > Business Rule Linkage > Project Types > <any project type>), and its Project Attributes section.

In the configuration for a project type for the customer AAA, you can set the attribute for AAA, and for the customer BBB, you can set the attribute for BBB.

Projects created based on those project types will show that files (or a ZIP download button) on the project information pain.

Since the attributes are read-only, you do not have to worry for mistakenly deletion.

However about the custom attributes only for specific user groups, we cannot achive this requirement in the current version. And I would like to cast my one vote to this idea.

    Best,

    Taiki
