Display the task view in the bottom pane of the project view

In the SDL WorldServer 11 UI,it would be much easier and much more intuitive if one could see the tasks of a project (or project group) directly in the bottom pane of the project view / project list. Instead of the tab "statistics", one could display the task view which is displayed when you click the project name or the project group name. This would make the navigation from one project to another much quicker and it would much more intuitive for users. if you have many tasks in the projects, the already-available maximize button would display the pane in the full page.

    Actually, the requirement would be for both convenient display and interaction with the tasks. But the first goal should be an easy access and enhance the navigation between project. So, the focus should be more on the display.

    I was thinking that such an approach might be lighter and more convenient than a tree view which would display a third level with tasks under the project.

  • Hi Laurent, we did look at this approach when designing the new UI but we preferred to keep that lower pane 'light'. The display of Task level data on the standard Project Group should be a  new level of expansion, so that for example, you could filter for tasks in different projects but which are at the same workflow step ("Show me everything at Translate"). This would be my preferred option. Is your requirement simply for a more convenient display or you would want to operate on the tasks too? Your screen mock-up includes a ribbon bar with actions.

    I know about the tree view in the old UI. However, this view does not support sorting. You are forced to stick to the alphabetical order of your projects.

    Concerning the new 11.x UI, you have to click on the project name or the project group name to display the task. The inconvenient part starts when you want to view the tasks of the next project: you have to go back to the project view search for the next project you want to view in the list and click on its name again.

  • Laurent, have you ever looked at the tree view in the old 10.x UI or the standard view for a project group in the new 11.x UI? They seem to meet the general request that you are making.
