Open / preview attached documents in Review Space

When a file is attached to a topic (non-dita resource), it cannot be opened from Draft Space to verify that is it the correct document attached.

We would like at least standard filetypes (xlsx, pptx, docx, pdf...) to be possible to open in a new browser window.

Text indicating that articles mentioned in Product News are available for countries listed in an attached Excel file, with a note that the resource cannot be downloaded or previewed in DraftReview Space.

    • Could you describe a typical scenario where you use these kinds of attachments? How frequently does this need arise?

    • Are there specific file types that are more critical than others for the preview functionality?

    • Which dita element do you use to link those files? Is it xref with a format and scope attributes, or something else? 

    • Would it be acceptable if unsupported file types prompted a download instead of opening in the browser?

      • Among other things we create a lot of small documents that we call Product News, these are released sometimes several / week. We actually have one attached Excel-sheet to each of these Product News publications.  

    • Are there specific file types that are more critical than others for the preview functionality?

      • I think mostly it would be an Excel file, Power Point, or PDF. 
    • Which dita element do you use to link those files? Is it xref with a format and scope attributes, or something else? 
      • It is an <xref href="GUID-xxxx" format="xlsx" id="GUID-xxxx"> the file is placed in the resource folder of the publication.

    • Would it be acceptable if unsupported file types prompted a download instead of opening in the browser?

      • Yes, absolutely!
