Publication Manager: Add Expand and Collapse Options

We typically have very long publications and trying to find a particular topic in a map requires expanding each parent and child manually. Having the options to "expand all" and "collapse all" from the right-click menu would be extremely helpful.

  • Hello All,

Thank you for the idea, for voting for it, and for providing your input.

I am glad to say that this idea and the additional cases that you mentioned in the comments are available in the Draft Space.

There, you can expand the outline to a certain level (1st, 2nd, or 3rd), which is particularly useful if your publication is big.

To support topic findability, you can use either the search in outline option or the quick navigation.

Tridion Docs interface showing the Quick navigation menu with options: Collapse all, Expand all, and Expand up to, alongside a document titled 'Using Quick Settings'.

Mentioning Draft Space capabilities that are available for you, I would also like to explore the Publication Manager use case, since this idea was originally reported for it.

Looking into to mentioned use cases, I would like to check:

    - Would "Search in Outline" be an option that covers your users' needs? Since after Expand All, you still need to locate the object.

    - If you have a case when Expand All/ Collapse All is needed, could you please share it?

    - Would it be enough during Expand All to expand to the level of topics used in the outline and leave folders with references collapsed? See example below

Tridion Docs outline view displaying a hierarchy for 'SmartPhone-UserGuide' with sections like 'Home', 'Getting started', and 'Sensation XL with Beats Audio', each with nested panels and image folders.

    Thank you
