Publication Manager: Control Order of Items in Resources Folder and Sub-folders

These are two related issues that pertain to the arrangement of items in the Resources folder and sub-folders in Publication Manager in Tridion Docs 12.

1. It would be helpful if users could more easily reorder items in the Resources list in the Content pane in Publication Manager.

  • Currently, items in the Resources list are automatically arranged based on the order in which they are added to the list, with the most recently added files listed last. To change the order of items in the Resources list, users must remove and add files to the list, which is inconvenient and error prone.
  • Suggested resolution: Users should be able to reorder the Resources list items manually or automatically arrange them alphabetically.

2. It would be helpful if users could more easily reorder the list of files shown in the library sub-folders in the Resources list.

  • Currently, files in the sub-folders are listed based on the order in which they are added to the library, with the most recently added files listed last.
  • Suggested resolution: Users should be able to reorder the sub-folder items manually, automatically arrange them alphabetically, or automatically arrange them to match the order in which they appear in the library file.

  • Our authoring team would also prefer the possibility to decide on the order of the libraries in the resources list: we handle for each publication 16-18 different libraries for different areas, such as basic libraries for regulations, units, market information, texts for controls, signal words, chaptertitles and so on, whereas 4 or 5 libraries are dependent to the publication itself. Those change with each publication and make it difficult to keep track of things.

Second issues is, that the order of the libraries seems not to follow any logic and change with duplication the publication every time.

Please consider to resolve this issue.
