Publish individual topics as Dynamic Delivery

For a publication in the Tridion Docs CMS that contains many topics - say hundreds or thousands - republishing changes to one or two topics is extremely time consuming, given only a few minor changes are made. The entire publication must be republished, even though 99% of the topics are unchanged. This seems very wasteful. It would be excellent if there was a way to republish only the individual topics that have been changed within a specific publication, as opposed to the entire publication. And then to have these one or two republished topics recognized by Dynamic Delivery, so that the corresponding publication(s) are all updated anywhere they appear on the presentation layer. This could drastically reduce publishing times and give greater control to the publishers to isolate changes.

  • The TDUG discussed this and sees great value in it. While some of us have homegrown systems whereby run time databases can do topic-based delivery, it would be very beneficial to our organizations to be able to manage some of the further upstream in Docs. Especially for deliverables that have thousands of topics, and where only a handful are updated during a release, this would be tremendous.
