Query folder improvement to be able to specify language level metadata

We are using the initial version of Tridion Docs 14. When creating a query folder, TD14 accepts only logical level of metadata in query description. This limits range of use a query folder. In addition, the syntax of query folder is too difficult to understand for typical users. If Tridion Docs is improved to accept any level of metadata and to be able to set the query using GUI that is easy to use, a query folder will be usefully a lot.

  • Hi Naoki, thank you for posting this idea! While we are not considering updating the query folders, partly for the reasons you describe, we are however working on the core Content Manager search functionality that will allow us to provide better ways to quickly list out specific content in the future.

  • Hi Joe,

I want to know the status of this issue. Topics are constantly growing in our company, so it's crucial for us to improve the efficiency of topic searches. By doing so, we can increase the rate of topic reuse.

  • Hi Naoki, there are new search capabilities in Organize Space, which was introduced in Tridion Docs 15.0. For example, you can now search on language-level metadata there, as in this screenshot:

Screenshot of Tridion Docs Organize Space showing the Search Properties panel with options to search for document objects or publications, a search term field filled with 'test*', and filters for versions, language set to German (de), and object type with Topic and Image selected. The Search Results panel displays a list of documents with titles, version, status, date modified, language, and resolution columns, all filtered by the search term and language.

Actually we are onto the second iteration of Organize Space with Tridion Docs 15.1 now. There is new functionality across the product. If you’re interested, our APAC team could walk you through it.

    Hope that helps!

  • Hi Joe, thank you for the update. I realized that the search function of Organize Space is improved a lot. It's much better than its predecessor.

However, we need the functionality to seach for objects using some sort of metadata combination. We added product's model information, market information, and keywords to objects. When reusing these objects, we want to search for ojbects with a certain set of metadata. The query folder can remember such set of metadata. If there isn't a capability like query folder, we have to specify search metadata set again and again.

If it's difficult to enhance query folder, please consider adding new functionality to Organize Space and Publication Manager that makes it possible to remenber and recall sets of metadata specifications.

    Thanks, Naoki
