TD14SP1/TD14SP2: Allow visual customization of Content Manager (e.g. menu colour, logo, etc.) to distinguish between instances

Hi all. Our current scenario has us working across pre-development environments, dev, test, and production. Other than the URL, they all look identical.

Can we please introduce the ability to personally customized visual elements in Content Manager to make it much easier to distinguish between instances for the same customer, or different customers?

For example, if my dev environment had a green menu bar, my test environment a yellow, and my production environment a red one, it would instantly alert me to my context. An end user might choose to colour theirs high contrast, depending on visual requirements.

Introducing a customer logo would not only improve the customer satisfaction and feeling of ownership, it would help those of us on the consulting side to more quickly distinguish between customer A and B. This is important, for all the obvious reasons. I'm sure anyone in your Support and Professional Services groups would agree. :-)

  • Indeed it is essential that users do not accidentally work in the wrong environment. This is possible and often done in the Tridion Sites environments but still this is not out of the box functionality and requires changes to the CME xml to inject css .Perhaps SDL can suggest a similar technical hack for Tridion Docs in the meantime.
