Indeed XPM was designed to work only with workflow Bundles that are local for current Page context.

We will consider to improve this in the new UI based on the popularity of the idea.

Make shared bundles work in XPM

  1. Currently, XPM can work only with local bundles. Although XPM knows from its configuration what the Content context publication is, it can only display local bundles, which is misleading.
  2. In CME we can create a bundle without schema linked ot it ( Schema type = none) while this is not possible in XPM.

That is another expected behavior. XPM can work only with WorkFlow bundles - bundles that have attached Bundle Schema with WF process. 

It would be nice to be able to add items to simple bundles for classification purposes or to prepare a bulk publish / translate / delete action for instance, even if there is no workflow associated.
