We are not aware of character limitations on metadata fields except for fields like title or description where the limit is 255 chars

Provide content editors a visual cue and/or message that the metadata character limit has been reached.

Metadata has a character limit of 4000 characters. However, this is not explicitly communicated to the users and there is no visual cues or messages that alerts users that they have exceeded the character limit. Ideally, a message should be displayed that lets users know how many characters the text has gone over the limit. At the very least a message should be presented that states the character limit has been exceeded.
