Ability to preview SVG is available as of SDL Tridion Sites 9.1. Thank you for the idea!

Support for Previewing SVG Multimedia in Component View and CME Thumbnail View

When adding an image to a multimedia component, a preview of the image is displayed on the component and in the CME "Thumbnail View". Our system also contains SVG files but the preview for those shows only a generic icon which isn't useful when dealing with many SVG files in one folder.

Interestingly, I believe the precursor to the BluePrint hierarchy viewer used SVG to visually represent Publications and their representations. SVG is both elegantly classic and modern.
