Workflow send minor version to Translation: schema granularity

Currently, this is a Global setting. My current "workflow" client would probably be OK with this.

Longer-term I can see a requirement to avoid a specific content type from being translated before totally complete through workflow - in this case we'd need to have a separate workflow process altogether (that sends the job post-workflow rather than conditionally in the main workflow).

Does anyone work with workflow and is interested in the minor version scenario - I'd be interested in your use-cases?

Thanks

  • Thanks, Mark. For those that are interested in translating minor version, the setting introduced in Web 8.5 is indeed global. It's meant to make translating minor versions easy (as in by users in or outside of workflow).

For SDL Tridion 2013 SP1, a few reported it was possible to send minor versions (I believe you were exploring this as well) within a workflow by matching the translation manager user with the owner of a given workflow activity.

In SDL Web 8 we made updates to match that expectation. So on Web 8 and beyond, you can choose to send minor versions based on a workflow setup. But for others using workflow with translation, it would be interesting to see what granularity and common scenarios  pop-up. Use cases are definitely welcome in comments!
