We are happy to announce the support of British English as a new spelling option for the Language Weaver machine translation (MT) output.

The new linguistic option allows you to easily switch between American and British spelling and enables you to further adapt the MT output to your needs.

The British spelling flavor is progressively being introduced to all our Source to English neural MT models. As of today, it’s available when translating from:

 As an account administrator, you can set British as the default spelling flavor for all translations performed with the language pairs which support it. To do it, follow the steps below:

• Go to “Settings” > “Language Pairs”
• Look for the language pair you’d like to choose British your default spelling preference

Under “Linguistic Options”, select “UK”:

Translators are also able to switch between British and American spelling on the Translate and Insights page.

This option is available through the API as well. To set your spelling preference, add the following parameter to your translation requests: "linguisticOptions": {"Spelling":"your-preferred-value"} , where "your-preferred-value" can be "UK" or "US".

We will regularly post updates to the list of language pairs that support British English so that you can immediately benefit from it.
