Language Weaver 8.7.1.0 has been released

Release overview

Language Weaver Edge 8.7.1.0 is a major update release which adds support for the new Pro translation models. The Pro models use a Large Language Model (LLM) Engine to perform the translations.

What's New?

  • Pro Models

    • Language Weaver Pro models are the latest generation of translation models from Language Weaver. These are LLM-based translation models that offer greatly enhanced fluency and translation quality on outputs.

    • Pro models of various sizes are supported via LLM Engines, which were introduced in 8.7.0.0:

      • Hardware requirements will vary based on the specific model, however at minimum, Pro models require:

        • 2 CPU cores, 1 GPU, and 24GB GPU RAM to run (we recommend at least an NVIDIA A10 GPU)

        • At least 1 Processing Unit (PU) per engine

    • Supported on Windows and Linux: the G models are supported on both Windows and Linux, while the T models are Linux only but provide better throughput.

    • Pro models running at least 1 PU will process translations at up to 2,000 words per minute (WPM). additional PUs can be assigned to increase throughput speeds.

  • CSV and TSV input types supported

    • Separators supported for CSV inputs include: comma, semicolon, tab, pipe.

  • RWS Theme update

    • Default UI theme has been updated to reflect the latest RWS branding.

Enhancements

  • Improved performance for audio transcriptions.

  • Improved PDF handling with better format preservation.

  • Reduced Job Engine memory usage for translations that use large dictionaries with fluent terms.

  • Added automatic language detection translation fallback for dialect languages: for example if the input is detected as French but there is only a "French Canadian" LP available, use it for the translation.

  • Added a section for Labels in the Reports view.

  • Allow labels to be applied for synchronous translations.

  • Allow feedback import of entries that don’t have an explicit ‘srcLanguage’ attribute set for the ‘<tu>’ element.

  • Allow case insensitive matching for the Profile Language Model option.

  • Added an installer option to modify the optional components for an existing LWE installation.

Fixes

  • Fixed incorrect language pair selection when using Multilingual Document Translation with a combination of Edge Cloud engines and local engines.

  • Fixed greedy pre-fetching of jobs by a Job Engine when it starts up, which would result in starving other Job Engines.

  • Fixed slow translation for large PDF outputs that contain watermark background text.

  • Fixed delayed release of computation resources after a large PDF output job is cancelled.

  • Fixed incorrect reporting of the job WPM rate as 0 for large PDF>PDF jobs.

  • Fixed security vulnerability for the OpenSSL library: CVE-2025-15467
