License consideration when upgrading:
- If you are already using Language Weaver Edge 8.5.2 or 8.5.3, you can safely upgrade to 8.5.4 and no new license is needed.
- If you are upgrading from 8.5.0 or 8.5.1 on Windows (Bare metal / VM) or Linux (Bare metal), you can safely upgrade to 8.5.4 and no new license is needed.
- If you are upgrading from 8.5.0 or 8.5.1 on Linux Virtual Machines, due to security improvements introduced in 8.5.2, the service will now run with a non privileged user. In some virtual environments, a new license may be needed after the upgrade. If you are running on Linux Virtual Machines, you may want to get a new 8.5.4 license generated before running the upgrade. Please ask a new license through your gateway account, with the current myhosts.json of your Edge setup.
- Direct upgrade from other 8.X previous releases is supported, but an 8.5 license will be required. The new license can be requested through your gateway account, and it can be generated based on your current myhosts.json file (there is no need to wait for the upgrade to be done to get the license generated - we can generate the license in advance so it can be available when the upgrade is performed).
We hope you'll enjoy this new release, and please let us know if you have any questions.
