Trados Business Manager – End of Life Announcement

Trados Business Manager (TBM) has reached end of life. Following the discontinuation of TBM sales on 31 October 2023, all maintenance and support services will conclude on 31 October 2024.
What Does This Mean for TBM Users?

  • End of Services: RWS will no longer provide any services related to the installation or updating of TBM.
  • Existing Installations: TBM will remain functional where already installed, but the RWS support team will not offer assistance in troubleshooting issues, addressing reported problems, or providing further development for TBM.
  • Documentation: The TBM documentation has been removed from docs.rws.com.
  • Community Support: The community forum for TBM will remain accessible in a read-only format for users to reference if needed.

Assignment of several files, 100% analysis, context matches and fuzzy match sorting

We would like to adapt TBM capabilities to our process.

The way we work is that we divide one large file from the quote into parts, then a translator and a proofreader is assigned to every part.

We need the easiest way to make two assignments for every part of the file: for a translator (who works with new (empty) segments, repetitions and fuzzy matches ≤ 99%) and for a proofreader (who reads all segments, including 100% and context matches).

Now, we are doing two analyses, but we encountered one problem, because we do not have all options we would like to select.

We see the following options:

Dropdown menu showing fuzzy type options including No match, Repetitions, 50% - 74%, 75% - 84%, 85% - 94%, and 95% - 99%.

and we still need 100% matches, Context matches and cross-file repetitions.

The way we do it is to do the first analysis (with new segments, repetitions and fuzzy matches ≤ 99%) and to create the assignments for translators.

Then, the second analysis is prepared (with new segments, repetitions and fuzzy matches ≤ 99%,100% matches and context matches), and from this analysis assignments for proofreaders are created.

Here, in addition, our question is whether it is possible to introduce sorting by fuzzy type.

After we prepare jobs, we need to create assignments to add translators.

Do I understand correctly that we have to mark all tasks and create assigments? Which option from the screenshot should I choose?

  • Hello, Magdalena,

Sorry that it takes much tine to answer. I'm still not sure, but here how I see this. You have to analysis - one for translator and another for proofreader. You import both into a single or 2 separate jobs. First analysis is imported using some default Analysis import settings. For the second analysis, you create second Analysis import settings, and select Proofreading as a service:

Trados Studio Analysis import settings window showing 'Demo settings' with 'Proofreading' selected as the Service type and a red arrow pointing to the 'Rounding mode' dropdown menu.

    In the result, you get:

    • Single job with many translation and many proofreading tasks
    • Or two jobs: one with all translation tasks and one with all proofreading tasks

In first case, you select all Translation tasks and click Create assignment - Individual assignment per each select service type. So you get 2 assignments, for translation and for proofreading.

As for possibility to sort analysis results by fuzzy type, we'll check and add this to TODO.

How do you think, could provided steps be a solution?
