Trados Business Manager – End of Life Announcement

Trados Business Manager (TBM) has reached end of life. Following the discontinuation of TBM sales on 31 October 2023, all maintenance and support services will conclude on 31 October 2024.
What Does This Mean for TBM Users?

  • End of Services: RWS will no longer provide any services related to the installation or updating of TBM.
  • Existing Installations: TBM will remain functional where already installed, but the RWS support team will not offer assistance in troubleshooting issues, addressing reported problems, or providing further development for TBM.
  • Documentation: The TBM documentation has been removed from docs.rws.com.
  • Community Support: The community forum for TBM will remain accessible in a read-only format for users to reference if needed.

Oddities in Quote

I have been playing with the quoting process to see if I can put two options in one quote form, a standard delivery and a rush delivery.  I currently have to add the rush delivery as a note.  I would prefer to have two tables, with each table with a total for the standard and rush delivery.

I tried listing both options together as a starting point and received the following print out:

Screenshot of a Trados Studio quote form showing two services: standard Arabic to English translation and rush Arabic to English translation, with a total quote amount of USD 4,800 instead of the expected USD 10,400.

I don't know why the quote total was only USD 4,800 and not USD 10,400.

  • Hi William,

If I understand you correctly, if you want to print 2 separate tables, you can add details band 2 times, and apply filter to each of them. For example, first filter will be something like [Description] = 'rush' and second one [Description] != 'rush'.

As for the amount, probably you use incorrect variable. Please check to which field that label is bound. If it is bound to Amount of the QuoteItems table, then it will show amount of the first row. You have to bind it to Amount field of the quote itself.

If still struggle, you can export your template and I will point out to issues.

  • Hi Eugene,

Thanks for delving into this.   At present, I am using two separate quotes on two different reports, with reference in each quote to the other option.  This "gets it done" for the moment.  Both options on one sheet would preclude the possibility of a client missing a rush option, but it would also mean changing the delivery time, which is on the general quote template and not within the quote item.  The rush delivery would be sooner at a higher price.

I am not sure I understand "first filter will be something like [Description] = 'rush' and second one [Description] != 'rush'.  Is the exclamation point a typo or does it have a special meaning within the database?

BTW, would a general tutorial on SQL help, such as www.programiz.com/.../database-introduction
