AI Terminology Extraction (Public Preview)
(Applies to Trados Team, Accelerate and Enterprise)

We are excited to launch our latest AI capability, AI terminology extraction, as a public preview (see below for a description of this concept).

Description

AI Terminology Extraction allows you to seamlessly extract terminology directly from your source files using AI. This feature leverages large language models (LLMs) to automatically analyze content, identify and extract relevant terms, and optionally translate them into target languages. The results are made available in a termbase for further refinement and use in translation workflows.

Key capabilities:

  • AI-powered terminology identification, extraction, and translation - delivers a fully streamlined workflow from source text to validated termbase entries.
  • Support for all source file types with bilingual file formats such as XLIFF and SDLXLIFF to follow in future.
  • Advanced extraction settings for greater control and precision, allowing users to customize various parameters such as:
    • min/max term length (number of words)
    • term frequency (minimum number of times a term must occur to be extracted)
    • maximum number of extracted terms
    • domain (the subject area e.g. legal, medical, technical)
  • Automatic LLM-driven population of termbase fields enables you to generate context-rich terminology entries. The target termbase includes fields like:
    • “Definition” (Language-level): Provides a definition of the term.
    • “Context” (Term-level): Provides sentences from the file where the term is used - i.e. context examples directly from the documents used
    • “Frequency” (Term-level): Indicates how often the term came up in the documents used
    • “Part of Speech” (Term-level, picklist): Categorizes the word into its part of speech - noun, verb, adjective etc.

Note: in the public preview phase, AI terminology extraction uses the default Trados-hosted LLM, which is Amazon Bedrock. You have to enable this LLM as the default in the Connected AI settings in your account before running any term extraction. Support for other LLMs will come in a future release..

What is Public Preview?

Public Preview is an early-access phase that allows Trados Enterprise, Accelerate, and Team customers to start using the AI Terminology Extraction feature before its general release. During this period, you can freely explore and test the feature and give us feedback. When the Public Preview concludes, continued use of AI Terminology Extraction may require a subscription add-on purchase. Further details on access and pricing will be shared in due course. The Public Preview is currently planned to run until early CY Q1 2026, after which we’ll announce plans for general availability.

Note: AI Terminology Extraction will not initially be available for Trados customers that are hosted in our Canada region. We will provide further updates on this soon.

You can read more about AI Terminology Extraction in our blog post here, or watch the 5 minute walkthrough video here to see the feature in action!

Additional changes

  • Enhanced search in Customer Portal: Project-level custom fields are now included when searching within projects, making it easier for users to find the information they need.
  • Resolved TM Search error in Customer Portal: We have resolved an issue where TM Search would fail when the associated project template applied penalty filters based on custom fields.
  • Task Workload dataset extended: Building on the previous release, this dataset now includes word counts per leverage band, in addition to total word counts, providing more granular visibility into task assignments and user workload.
  • Reusable TM Maintenance filters: Filters created in TM Maintenance can now be shared and reused by the same user across all translation memories that share the same field template structure.
  • Adobe InDesign 2026 support: This release introduces compatibility with Adobe InDesign 2026.
  • General improvements: Various bug fixes and UX enhancements have been applied to improve overall stability and user experience.

We hope this post was informative, and we look forward to continuing to provide you with updates to the product.

Trados Product Management

  • Hi Ian, I have requested this a couple of time but it seems, that it is not possible to have the details of the bugs you have fixed. I am waiting for solution for some bugs that have a CRQ number. If you do not post what was fixed (like it is done on other products like Studio or GroupShare, I will not know, if one bug has been fixed. Of course, I can go into my support page and have a look at the product requests, but this is time consuming. It would be really better and faster if you could share information about the bugs that have been fixed.

When an update has been made, there is a link "Read more", but here I can find the same information I find on the update page, so this link is useless )sorry)

Thank you very much for your work.

    Kind regards,

    Angelo
