Trados Enterprise - 24.11.1 Release

We have just released the latest update to Trados Enterprise translation management capabilities, and we would like to share the new functionality that has been delivered.
New features and updates are automatically added to your account, so just login to Trados Enterprise, and they will be available immediately.

Redesigned Workflow View

We have significantly redesigned the Workflow view to be more user-friendly and suitable for widescreen monitors.
The new view now displays the Workflow similar to the Stages view and enables quick actions directly from one screen.

For more complex operations, when clicking on Configure and Assign tasks, we display a sidebar to provide more screen real-estate.

Note: The old vertical view can still be accessed in the interim by clicking on the Vertical button in the top right of the screen. This view will eventually be retired, however, so we suggest familiarising yourself with the new improved view.

New Language Planning task

We have introduced a new Language Planning task in addition to the existing planning task, which enables larger teams that have Project Managers with planning responsibilities for a specific language.
This new planning task can be added after a project-level planning task, or instead of a project-level planning task during Workflow Template creation using the Workflow Editor.
The Language Planning task will generate one planning task per language that can be progressed independently.

In addition, we now filter the Stages and Planning views by default, if a user has the Internal Project Management service type and a language direction specified.

Terminology Verification for Online Editor and QA Check task

In addition to the previously supported Terminology Verification when working in Studio, we have now released Terminology Verification in the Online Editor and the automated QA Check workflow task.
As part of this, we have also redesigned the Terminology Verifier settings and moved specific Studio-only settings to the Advanced view.

Copilot Smart Help includes Knowledge Base and Community

The Trados Copilot has become even smarter! If it can’t find an answer in the documentation, it will now additionally provide answers it has learned from our Knowledge Base and Community forums.

Completed projects are now restricted

Based on customer feedback, we have now introduced further restrictions to Projects that are in Completed status. They now behave as Archived projects do.
Restricted actions include changing of resources, workflow, assignment, file type configurations and more.
Additionally, batch actions in Project Groups, such as reassignment, will no longer apply to completed projects.

Note: Completed projects can still be modified, if necessary, by moving them back to the In Progress state.

Built-in Reports have been moved to Dashboards area

The built-in reports have been moved under the Reports > Dashboards area in Trados.

In addition, we have refreshed the layout of the built-in reports so their appearance is more consistent with Dashboards created and shared using the Custom Reporting module in Trados.

Trados cloud platform moving to cloud.trados.com

We are planning to transition the hosting of our Trados Cloud-based products from languagecloud.sdl.com to cloud.trados.com and eu.cloud.trados.com on November 9th.
This transition will create a better digital experience by unifying our online platform under the Trados brand.

This change will affect the following Trados Cloud-based products:

  • Trados Team
  • Trados Accelerate
  • Trados Enterprise
  • Trados Terminology
  • Trados Studio’s cloud capabilities

What you need to know

  • Your existing login credentials to the above products will remain unchanged.
  • There will be no service interruption during this transition.
  • For a period after the change, languagecloud.sdl.com will automatically redirect to eu.cloud.trados.com.
  • lc-api.sdl.com for API and integrations will remain active.
  • Existing integrations will continue to work as before. We do recommend planning to change the URL when possible.
  • For new integrations, we recommend using the new URL to avoid additional work in the future

What you need to do

  • Coordinate with your IT department to ensure *.cloud.trados.com is added to your list of trusted domains or firewalls if necessary.
  • If colleagues in your team use our online platform, please share this information with them, though they should have also received this notification.

We're committed to making this transition as smooth as possible for you. However, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Public API: UI Extensibility BETA

We have introduced support for User Interface (UI) Extensions, which offer the possibility to add custom user interface elements and functionality. Custom buttons and panels can be added to specific places within the user interface.

UI Extensibility is initially being offered in BETA. Customers interested in evaluating this functionality should keep in mind that significant changes are planned prior to the full release. For more details, please refer to the documentation page.

Additional changes

  • You can now filter and sort Vendor Orders by Project, Languages, Task type, Vendor Order Template and Status
  • It is now possible to configure language-specific character length checks in QA Check Settings
  • You can now specify which Termbases should be used for lookup in Translation Engine
  • We have introduced a third option under pre-processing settings to configure how locked segments are presented in Analysis reports, this enables showing locked segments in their original match band rather than the locked category
  • In the Analysis report, "New" has been renamed to "New/AT" as Automated translations are displayed in that bucket
  • Introduced a new Online Editor user setting “Apply best match after successful lookup”
  • When confirming segments in Online Editor during Customer Review, we no longer skip Translation approved segments
  • Custom Fields can be assigned higher priority, so they appear more prominently in email notifications
  • We have increased the number of values that can be included in custom picklist fields to 300
  • When sharing Dashboards created using the Custom Reporting module, users are now taken directly to that dashboard instead of having to search manually by name
  • We have introduced a new permission to control access to the Translation Memory maintenance page in Trados. Users granted this new permission still require additional permissions to edit contents of a Translation Memory
  • The error numbers in Project list are now clickable and will now redirect to the error tasks
  • In the list of MT models in Translation Engine, you can now drag multiple items by selecting them using shift or control
  • Added support for Haitian Creole (ht-ht)
  • Project templates are now sorted alphabetically in lists
  • Resolved a bug where minimum match value changes were not being applied
  • Various bug fixes and UX enhancements

We hope this post was informative, and we look forward to continuing to provide you with updates to the product.

  • Thank you for the feedback. For the config, could you please work with our support team to log a CRQ so we can investigate, looks like a bug.

  • Thank you for the feedback. Maintaining two views for the same use case, would essentially mean doubling development efforts, which can be better spent elsewhere.

  • HI ,

I agree with Patrick IT really takes out efficiency in making changes to Workflow.

Vertifical scroll requires only one time scrolling to view all the Stages in WF.

But here you have to go each and every phase and scroll down to check the WF step for which you need to make changes.

Also the Vertical only Scroll was clear in showcasing the Workflow Steps and it also help in validating the Changes made.

For e.g here it shows the option to save configuration:

But in the Phases view you cannot see any validation option asked by the TE, we cannot say whether the changes made were saved or not.

  • Regarding the redesigned Workflow View: While it's visually more appealing, it falls short in efficiency compared to the vertical version. The new layout requires constant vertical and horizontal scrolling, making it cumbersome to manage workflow steps. Additionally, all stages are expanded by default, which complicates navigation. Being able to collapse all would facilitate easier navigation through the steps. The vertical interface is more suitable for administrators, so ideally, both views should be available. Why can't we keep both views? Is there a specific reason for removing the old view entirely?
