Package in Trados Cloud

Hi,

Haven't looked at the Cloud for awhile, as my work is mainly in packages and the Cloud did not handle those very well (or at all) in the past. Now I did manage to create a project in the Cloud with a package file, but that resulted in numerous files (so not like in Studio where you only see the files you need to work on), and I'm kinda lost on how that is supposed to work. So downloaded the project in Studio and opened the package there as I don't have the time to figure all that out.

Question is: am I doing something wrong or is working on packages in Trados Cloud (Live) simply still not an option? Can I open a package, complete it and create a return package all in Trados Cloud? If not, why not? This is a Trados proprietary file so I'm baffled it's still not as straightforward as it should be. Or I'm just dumb and not seeing the obvious.

I am talking about Studio 2022 now, that I just installed.

  • Hi Richard - I played with it and can confirm the progress information does not seem to be updated properly. I will report this to the team. I ran the "Translation Count" batch task manually in Studio and then it updated locally (but not in the cloud as this is a purely local batch task). To save target files, you can use the new batch task "Generate target files (cloud projects)", this should give you the target files for the project. We should also look at enabling the Save As Target command in the Editor. It should also be possible to use Create Return Package to send an updated package back. I agree there are some rough edges here and I will keep working with the team to refine, so these flows work better. Thanks, Daniel
