Is it possible to manually return to an earlier task or stage in the workflow? For example, from translation to pre-processing (so that the translation memory can run again)?

Our understanding is that it's not - the workaround is to add the file to the project a second time as batch 2, with a slightly different name.
Hi Lucas and Guto - one (fairly new) option is to include the "bilingual engineering" task in your workflow (it's available in all Trados cloud offerings). See here for some information: Bilingual Engineering Task. This task can be 'looped' until you are happy with the results, and only then goes into final TM matching. It's probably good to play with this a little bit to understand the potential and use cases. Thanks, Daniel

Hi Daniel Brockmann, in the standard workflows the bilingual engineering tasks occurs during pre-processing and so once you get beyond that there is no way to revert back.
My question was regarding whether there is any way as program manager or administrator that you can manually push the workflow to a particular stage. I have found that this would be a useful capability in a variety of scenarios. The best workaround I've found is to upload to new files (as batches) but I find that to be both inefficient and confusing (since you end up with multiple batches of the same files).
Yep thanks Lucas - but we did add a loop there which allows you to check the preprocessing results, make any changes and go back to TM matching so you can optimize files several times before you go into the actual project tasks. But you are right, later in the workflow we don't yet have this kind of flexibility (though recently we added flexibility for sending back files into the workflow even after finalization, so that was an important next evolutionary step as well).

What do you mean by "...flexibility for sending back files into the workflow even after finalization..."? After a project is marked as "completed" or at some point in the FINALZE stage? This could be the sort of capability I was originally inquiring about.
Hi Lucas - this was added in our November 2023 update and is described here - (+) Trados Team - 23.11.1 Release - Trados Team Product Updates - Trados Enterprise, Accelerate, Team and cloud capabilities in Trados Studio - RWS Community. Hopefully it works in your context also.

I see. Interesting. I'll need to give this a shot. Thanks very much for flagging!
