Error

I am getting a red x in the side panel with the message "Error detecetd". I have been told it is a formatting issue, but hovering over the x does not give me any information. Every time I edit a target segment and confirm, the red x appears. How do I find out what is the formatting problem and fix it?

"Question improvement suggestion": Please provide more details such as the exact version of Trados Studio you are using, the type of file you are translating, and any recent changes you made to the system or software. Also, if possible, share a screenshot of the error.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

The red 'x' in the side panel usually indicates a formatting issue in Trados Studio. Here are some steps you can take to identify and resolve the issue:

Step 1: Open the document in Trados Studio and navigate to the segment with the red 'x'.

Step 2: Click on the red 'x'. This should open a window with more information about the error.

Step 3: If the error is due to formatting, you will need to correct the formatting in the target segment. This can be done by deleting the existing formatting tags in the target, selecting the word or phrase you want to change the format for, pressing CTRL + , for the Quickinsert drop-down, selecting the formatting tags from the drop-down, and confirming the segment.

Step 4: After correcting the formatting, confirm the segment again. The red 'x' should disappear if the issue was resolved.

If the red 'x' still appears after these steps, there might be other issues causing the error. In this case, you might need to check for updates within the application or visit the RWS AppStore for additional tools that can help diagnose and fix the issue.
